Jane and Louise Wilson

b.1967 in Newcastle the Wilson sisters work closely together in the same studio with photography and film. The sisters were nominated for the Turner Prize in 1999. They are fascinated by altered states as well as the hypnosis film, and approach their subjects with a journalistic like enquiry. They have made films in the House of Lords and decommissioned military bases in Berkshire. Their work is psychologically charged and explores evocative and historically resonant spaces. ‘Sea Eagle’ is part of a series exploring German bunkers on the Normandy coast used during the Second World War. ‘Spiteful of Dream’ is a series that explores the Rolls Royce and Bombardier factory in Derby in relation to the upheavals of Bosnian refugees into the city.
