Selby’s intricate drawings and paintings are drawn from press photography, film stills and mental images. He is strongly influenced by historical material and his works engage a wide range of ideas. Recent work has been based upon miscommunications and failures of communications in the world. The failure to convey ideas is taken further by Selby in his own work and is why his drawings frequently end in violence.
