Robert Crumb
|
b.1943 in Philadelphia, United States, Robert Crumb lives and works in France. Crumb is the founder of the underground comix movement and a celebrated comic book artist. In 2009 he completed an illustrated rendering of the Book of Genesis. Crumb’s style of drawing is influenced by many factors. His job as a commercial illustrator, extensive LSD use and earlier generations of cartoon artists have had a marked influence on his work. Crumb is recognised not only for his distinctive style but also for his often satirical, critical and subversive view of mainstream America.
