One of the most distinctive voices in British contemporary photography, John Riddy’s photographs capture the individuality and poetry of certain places. His subject matter is broad – ranging from the unassuming domestic interior to images of Renaissance or Modernist architecture. This work is taken from a series that the artist did on the Capital Complex in Chandigarh, the government seat designed by Le Corbusier in the 1950’s.
John Riddy (b. 1959 Northampton) has work in various important collections such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, the Arts Council, the Tate and the Government Art Collection. Chandigarh (Capitol Complex 4), 2006 is included in the Tate Collection and was exhibited in the group exhibition, Romantics, at Tate Britain from 2010-2011.
