Luke Batten b.1968 and Jonathan Sadler b.1963 work in photographic and design based work in the collaborative group called New Catalogue. Their works subtly introduce references from popular culture, historical sources, and fine art and add a satirical element to traditional photographic genres. Their work has featured in exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago and at the National Gallery of Prague. “Preppy Girls with BB guns” features in their first book which examines elements of American iconography. These works hint towards a subconscious desire for danger in a suburban setting, but with a degree of ambiguity the images can be shaped by the viewer.
