John Riddy b.1959 in Northampton, England works with photography and prints. Riddy is renowned for his black and white prints of urban architectural spaces but his subject matter is broad. More recent work differs with photographs presented in colour. He presents man-made and natural world phenomenon in his work which is very often devoid of people. Riddy’s photographs are deliberately very descriptive, formally constructed, and subtle. Riddy is fascinated by places, and his pictures display in amazing depth, the passing of time, the atmosphere, spatial illusion, and culture in these places. His pictures aim to defeat our expectations of photographic descriptions.
