Hannah Hewetson (b. 1977, British) graduated from THE Glasgow School of Art MFA course in 2003 and has exhibited internationally in Tokyo, Paris, Mexico City and Montreal. Hewetson’s paintings evoke dream-like fantasies but our based on everyday images sourced from newspapers, magazines and old photographs. She works directly from these images, painting it several times or painting on top of previous paintings, partly leaving the underneath image visible. Hewetson’s gestural paintings slip between abstraction and representation.
