|
More Margate – more past, from the portfolio ‘In the darkest hour there may be light’ |
Medium: Lithograph on Canaletto paper |
Year made: 2006

Emin’s initial paintings were informed by the Expressionists Munch and Schiele but she has subsequently destroyed these works. She is best known for her highly confessional works, disarmingly frank explorations of her own life that include displays of personal memorabilia. Emin’s work is one of disclosure, drawing on her life events in works ranging from storytelling, drawing, filmmaking, installation, painting, neon, photography, appliquéd blankets and sculpture.
